Users Not Displayed in the SBS 2008 Console

Problem

On the Users and Groups tab of the SBS console you may find not all users are listed.

Reason

This is because the users were not created via the SBS console – therefore the user’s Active Directory (AD) attribute msSBSCreationState
value
is not
set to “Created”. If you are in the process of migrating from SBS 2003 then the “migrate users and groups” option in the SBS Console will rectify this, otherwise follow the instructions below.

Resolution

  • Note that this is likely to change group membership. Make sure you make a note of group membership and test this before applying to all users.

Open the SBS console and select “change user role”

Select the desired role and choose “add user permissions or settings”

Select the relevant users or users

Click change user role. The user should now be displayed in the console
