When opening the Veeam Backup & Replication console youare presented with the error “Failed to check certificate expiration date”.

User-added image

This is due to Veeam having an old certificate in its cache. You will need to generate a new certificate.

If the certificate used is self-signed (which they are by default) then you can generate a new certificate from within the Backup & Replication console. Note that this will restart the Veeam Backup Service.

  • Go to general options, security tab and click install.
  • In the wizard select “generate new certificate”
  • Follow the wizard through.
