Veeam v6 on iSCSI notes

Direct SAN Access

  • Generally the fastest way to backup your VMs. For this the Veeam server will need to be directly connected to the SAN iSCSI network.
  • For direct SAN access to work the veeam backup server needs to be “connected” to the relevant LUN. Note in the below example I have install the Dell Equallogic Host Integration (HIT) kit to allow Dell multipathing.

Once you have connected to the LUN please rescan to ensure Veeam is aware of the LUN

Some people have reported speed increases by turning off autotuning on the Veeam Backup server.

If your iSCSI network is running flowcontrol and jumbo frames then don’t forget to enable these options on the NIC in the Veeam backup server.
