How to determine which process has a port open

In this article I am trying to determine which program (or process) is using port 3443

Step 1 – Netstat

Open a cmd-promt and enter the command

netstat –ano |more

Look for the port number and note the PID (process id).

Step 2 – Task Manager

Open task manager. Go to the view menu and make sure the PID column is displayed.

Make sure you have selected “show processes from all users”

You can then locate the PID and view the corresponding process.

In this instance its BES-AS – the blackberry application server.
